Lithuanian - Canadian Joint Venture Astera specializing in estimate calculation software creation, servicing, and consulting.
Astera was established in 1992, and its first product, computer software Estimates, was launched in 1993. It was created on the basis of Excel4 macro command programming. Later on the software was continuously improved, the new versions of Estimates were created. Excel4 macro commands were succeeded by VBA and Visual Basic programming languages. The Estimates were developed together with Microsoft Office versions. The software releases: Estimates 99 (Basic), Estimates 2001 (Standard), Estimates 2003 (Professional).
Over the years, in 2011 launched a newest product Estimates "EXPERT. This software is the latest work, convenient and easy to use, computer friendly user interface, with great functionality. Running in MS Excel 2007 or 2010 platforms.
In 2004 the software was registered as Astera Estimates at the Infobalt Copyright Agency.
Primary objectives and tasks of Infobalt Association:
- to coordinate activities of its members in computer technology, telecommunication systems, office equipment, finance services, and other fields of their activities;
- to take continuous and consistent care of the implementation of copyrights of computer software and data base authors and their successors on the basis of legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania and European Union as well as the international treaties;
- to assist the Association members and other authors and their successors in the implementation of their computer software and data base copyrights in the course of e-content creation, usage, and processing;
- to improve the legislation and develop other documents which would ensure the protection of copyrights of the authors and their successors;
These objectives and tasks are relevant to Astera as the producer of software. Its intentions include the active participation in the solution of the tasks.
